Event preparations

  • Suitability. This event is not suitable for anyone under the age of 10 years old. Participants between the ages of 10 and 18 must be accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult. (The adult must also be registered for the event.) The event is not suitable for pushchairs or people in wheelchairs.
  • Grade. This event is considered a moderate challenge. That means that it does require some training and preparations, but participants don’t need to spend years becoming super fit or spend thousands of pounds on high tech equipment. No previous mountaineering experience is required for this trip, however, the fitter you are the more you will enjoy your day. We have provided you with a training plan in this pack; it has been devised by a fitness professional but it is only provided as a guide and you may wish to seek professional advice before starting your own fitness regime.
  • Weather. It is your responsibility to regularly check the weather in the days leading up to the Sunday 8 June and to dress and pack accordingly. Please also bear in mind that weather forecasts can be unreliable and that the weather can change quickly and without warning. We recommend you bring a backpack on the day with various items of clothing, so that you are prepared for hot, cold, wet and dry conditions.
  • Insurance. It is not a requirement that you take out your own personal insurance for the event. You will not be covered by the hospice’s insurance and you undertake the event entirely at your own risk. Should you wish to, you may take out your own personal insurance for the event from an insurance provider of your choice.
