The Chartered Institute of Housing’s Presidential Appeal has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for charities and good causes across the world. Current president Alison Inman has chosen to support Women's Aid during 2017-18.

Women's Aid supports women and children affected by domestic violence through a range of services across the UK.

Alison has been involved with Women's Aid for more than 30 years. She said: "One thing 22-year-old me would have been certain about is that we would have cracked it by now, but women are still dying and children's lives are still being ruined. There is a role for housing professionals here and what I want to do is spend the next year starting some conversations about that.

“I want to use this partnership to raise awareness and start having conversations about how we are tackling this issue as a sector.

“I look forward to working with Women’s Aid during my presidential year and I want us to make real progress. Anyone who can support in any way is hugely welcome."
