PAPYRUS was founded 23 years ago in the North West, by a group of bereaved parents who felt strongly that other families should not go through what they experienced. Since 1997, PAPYRUS has continued to listen to and learn from the experiences of those personally touched by young suicide.

With your support, PAPYRUS has been spreading hope for 23 years, reaching more young people across the UK living with thoughts of suicide – as well as those concerned for them. Today, PAPYRUS works in many ways to prevent young suicide. We couldn’t continue our life-saving services without our supporters, fundraisers and volunteers.

To celebrate this we are launching a BRAND NEW event for 2020. HOPE23 is our first ever virtual event that will be taking place in April.

HOPE23 is the event that fits around your life – do whatever you want, whenever you want, during the month of April.  Help us to celebrate spreading HOPE and saving young lives for 23 years by taking part in HOPE23.

Choose to take on our daily, weekly, or monthly challenges at whatever pace suits you, in your own time, with anyone. Run, jog, dance, swim, cycle – the choice is yours! There are different challenges to suit everyone; you can choose to complete a challenge for the whole month or a few weeks.  This is the challenge that fits around your life, helping us to prevent young suicide.

PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide

Suicide is the single biggest killer of young people in the UK today. According to the Office of National Statistics (ONS), in this country in 2018 over 1800 young people took their own lives. That equates to over 5 people dying by suicide every single day.

PAPYRUS is the only national charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide. We exist to reduce the number of young people who take their own lives by equipping both them and their communities with the skills to recognise and respond to suicidal behaviour, to prevent, to intervene, and to encourage self-care.

5 heroes fundraising today.
